Exclusive: MISS MAY I "Monument" Track-by-Track analysis

Miss May I frontman Levi Benton hit us up with a brief track-by-track rundown for the band's latest release, Monument.



1. Our Kings
Is about how the kings "President/Higher leaders" are like cannibals to us. And since our age when we rise up and grow we will be the future.

2. Masses Of A Dying Breed
Is about getting where you want to be and how you succeed no matter what it takes. Even if people will beat you down and tell you not to you have made it. They will not believe where you are now but the must face the facts.

3. Answers
Actually the cool thing about this song is that EVERY line is a question. No statements. The entire song is about us asking us how we got to do what we are doing now. It just amazes us. Something we will never know.

4. Relentless Chaos
Is about how people always will shoot you down and it feels like it is all the time. But you will overcome it no matter how "relentless" they are.

5. Creations
Is about togetherness symbolized through a painting and explaining how the whole world is beautiful and artwork depending on how you look at it.

6. Gears
Describes how we are worn down if you dont appreciate what we do for one another and we abuse ourselves if we tend to be selfish.

7. Colossal
Explains how we wouldnt be here if it wasnt for all of our fans and support. And together we can become larger and larger in our own.

8. We Have Already Fallen
Is about how after we have seen the entire country excited to explore, we find that its just horrible and people arent what you expect them to be. It is hard to find good people not only around you but everywhere.

9. In Recognition
Is about recognizing your roots and where you came from. We have seen everything we have ever wanted but none of it will ever amount to being home and the ones you love. Places that are so beautiful like the Ocean just become repetitive and looses its meaning and will never mean as much as home.

10. Monument
Brings the entire album together and explains that this album is what we want to represent us. It stands for not going anywhere and becoming who you are. Like a punch in the face and our statement. Our Monument.
